Ogden Community Comes Together To Transform Home. Yet Another Reason To Live In Ogden!

Ogden real estate at 2117 Adams Avenue in East Ogden was, for a long time, a ramshackle four-plex. It was transformed in late June as a charming, pristine single family home. Many people had their hands in this project, making this a real community effort. Mayor Matthew Godfrey said that this is just one of many things to come in the community during the ribbon cutting ceremony. Other improvements throughout the community are soon to be underway. This is yet another reason to discover Davis County Real Estate.

The city pitched in and gave $30,000 for the renovations, which equals to $10,000 per unit that consisted of the previous four-plex. Mayor Godfrey stated that this is a “remarkable transformation.” The house now has four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a garage, and is light, open, and bright on the inside. Home Depot really came through and funded about $15,000 in materials. They donated all sorts of other materials and also provided the carpet and flooring for free. They even provided volunteers from around the Ogden area to work on the house. The Standard Examiner writes, “The Ogden Community Foundation, a local nonprofit organization, loaned the Ogden Renewal Foundation, another nonprofit group dedicated to rehabilitating homes in East Central Ogden, $70,000 to buy the four-plex.”

Here’s the even better part: about a half a dozen unemployed construction workers are going to renovate other homes in East Central Ogden targeted for repairs or reconstruction. There was a Ogden real estate State grant for $104,000 to make this all possible.

What is next on the list, you ask? The Standard Examiner states, “The next project will include converting an apartment building to a single-family home at 2103 Adams Ave. and building a new home at 580 22nd St., said Tom Halliday, the volunteer general contractor for the projects. Work on both homes is scheduled to be finished by the end of October.”

This is just the start of the beautification process of East Ogden. The home sale proceeds are to go back to the community, in order to fund more projects just like this one. Beautification of a city is always a great thing. People take interest and real estate prices rise. Ogden is a tight-knit community and is a wonderful place to work and live.
